Cold Email Automation
Multi-step cold email sequences that are actually worth sending.
Turn the decision-makers you identified and enriched into a running outbound motion. Multi-step sequences, variable merge, auto-stop on reply, subject A/B — the parts that actually matter, without the 200-feature bloat of a dedicated cold-email tool.
How Cold Email Automation works for you
Build sequences of three to seven touches, each with its own template and delay. Variables pull from the contact and company records, so every email genuinely addresses the person you're writing to — not a generic mail merge to a dead list.
Replies, opens, and clicks are all tracked. The moment a contact replies, the sequence stops automatically for that person — no awkward follow-up after they've already answered. Bounces stop the sequence and mark the contact, so you don't keep beating a dead address.
Pacing is configurable per mailbox to protect your deliverability. A/B test subject lines on live sends, push engaged contacts to the CRM as hot leads, and keep the sequences themselves simple enough that you'll actually maintain them.
Why this exists
Manual follow-ups break down at scale
One email you can send manually. Forty, with three follow-ups each, is a full-time job that never runs on time.
Generic templates kill reply rates
The {{first_name}} {{company}} template is obvious. Buyers see it, delete it, and tag the sender as spam. Personalisation that feels real requires variables the template engine actually has.
Sequences keep sending after a reply
Nothing embarrasses a sales motion like a follow-up automation that kept firing three days after the prospect already said yes. Without auto-stop wired to the inbox, it happens constantly.
From setup to first lead in four steps
Pick your audience
Choose contacts from identification + enrichment. Filter by ICP, country, company size, or list.
Design the sequence
Three to seven touches. Each with its own template, delay, send-time rules, and optional branching.
Write real templates
Variables pull from contact and company records. Preview each generated email before it sends.
Run and iterate
Auto-stop on reply. A/B subject lines. Open/click/reply metrics feed back into the next iteration.
The teams getting the most out of this
For Sales Teams

- Variable merge from contact + company records
- Auto-stop on reply, auto-stop on bounce
- Subject-line A/B testing on live sends
- Send pacing and throttling per mailbox
- Per-sequence analytics — opens, clicks, replies, meetings booked
What people ask before they buy
Spam is irrelevant, unsolicited bulk. Targeted B2B outreach to a decision-maker about a legitimate business need isn't spam — it's how most B2B selling happens. Leadsment enforces unsubscribe on every message, respects hard bounces, and blocks sending to addresses that opt out. Used well, cold email is a channel; used badly, it's the sender's problem, not the tool's.
Under GDPR and UK PECR, B2B cold email to corporate addresses is permitted on a legitimate-interest basis when the contact's role is relevant and unsubscribe is honoured. Leadsment is built for this: business emails only, unsubscribe link in every message, log of every send. For Germany, which has stricter rules, we recommend additional explicit-consent workflows.
Realistic replies on a well-targeted cold sequence to an ICP-matched audience with good copy land in the 5–15% range over 3–5 touches. Anything above 20% is usually either warm traffic being called cold, or a dataset worth investigating. Below 2% is almost always a targeting or copy problem, not a tool problem.
Detailed answers
Which plan includes automation?
Cold email automation ships on the Done-for-You tier today. Stand-alone access is planned — join the waitlist from the demo.
Are templates included?
Yes — a library of battle-tested B2B templates by stage (cold open, value-prop, case study, follow-up, break-up) is included. You can clone and edit any of them.
What sending volume can I push?
Per-mailbox, not tool-wide. A warmed Gmail does 300–500/day comfortably; a Google Workspace domain with 5 mailboxes can send 2,500/day with pacing. Higher volumes are possible with dedicated infrastructure, which Done-for-You includes when needed.
How does unsubscribe work?
Every cold email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribed contacts are blocked from all future sequences, workspace-wide. Full audit log per contact.
Can sequences run in multiple languages?
Yes. Per-contact language is detected from company country or set manually. Templates can have variants per language, and the right one fires automatically.
What happens when a contact replies?
The sequence stops for that contact automatically. The reply is threaded in the contact record, the contact is marked as engaged, and (optionally) pushed to a 'hot' list or into your external CRM. You take it from there.
